The Forbidden City

Mom and Aunt Linda wanted to go to the Forbidden City, so we went.  We thought it might be worth paying someone to tell us the history behind the very popular tourist attraction.

This child is wearing "split pants".  Split pants are very common here in China because the Chinese tend to potty train their children very young.  Probably still because diapers are very expensive.  Split pants are worn normally without diapers so that the child can squat down and go to the bathroom on short notice pretty much anywhere.  And yes, they go pretty much anywhere.  I'm guessing this child is wearing a diaper because they were going to a tourist location.  Most of the time you can see their little tushies.
